Use file captions

I put together the code to use Commons:File captions directly instead of writing a caption in a one-time template.
https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?oldid=1079295922 would be the new version of Template:Main Page Template/motd implementing this change.
So if users still create the caption template, that will be displayed. otherwise, the file captions on the file is fetched and displayed. RoyZuo (talk) 07:20, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
Media of the Year

Support Great idea – I don't understand why we have only a photo of the year competition despite that these are often much less educational or helpful for illustration and understanding/communicating concepts than diagrams for example. Prototyperspective (talk) 22:26, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
