Add a request

Before adding your requests, please consider whether they can be better handled by the following pages.

• Permission requests: obtaining free licence for works already published elsewhere
• Graphic Lab/Illustration workshop: diagrams and vector graphics
• Graphic Lab/Map workshop: maps
• Special:UploadWizard if you can upload files from your devices
• Upload tools if you want to upload files from other websites
  • Flickr files#Tools: images from flickr.com
  • video2commons: audio or video files from other websites or your devices

Add your request:

• You may try finding a file on your own (see help on public domain image resources).
• For a file of a specific location, it may be possible to contact someone near the location and ask them to take a photo. The nearest photographer tool can help locate users who are near specific locations.
• If the object has a fixed location, it can have a Wikidata item with geocoordinates. Items with coordinates are visible on the WikiShootMe map where any user of that website can see all the places that lack a picture.
• Link to a page where you want the image to be placed.
• If possible, include an external link to a picture about the request.
• Sign your request (type ~~~~ at the end).

• Try Request Map or Commons:File requests/Map to find topics near you.
• Browse old open requests in the archives.
• Upload the file; provide licensing information, source, and description.
• Reply to the requester and edit templates accordingly. Place ✅ in front of the section heading to indicate that the request is fulfilled.
