Image
[edit]I mean that of Radio Bruno, not that of the photo shoot. The image of Radio Bruno is much better. 37.159.55.190 00:50, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- No. A YouTube screenshot can never be “much better” than a professional photographic portrait. Please try to make some sense. IvanScrooge98 (talk) 00:53, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- @IvanScrooge98 No it's not good, the image is of a photo shoot that also comes out among Instagram stories. The one in the Radio Bruno interview is better. 37.159.55.190 00:58, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- What? What has Instagram to do with this? That is a professional image, period. Find an actual argument before restoring the screenshot or I’ll report you for edit warring. Regards. IvanScrooge98 (talk) 01:00, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- @IvanScrooge98 It is a copyright image. If you put it on Google it comes out immediately, so it's not good. Better that of the Radio Bruno interview. 37.159.55.190 01:03, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- Gosh. It’s on Commons because the author uploaded it—or at least someone who claims to be. Kindly read the file information page. And next time please explain the issue on the first occasion instead of forcing others to beg for a clarification. IvanScrooge98 (talk) 01:08, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- @IvanScrooge98 it is possible to upload some other version of the Radio Bruno interview. 37.159.55.190 01:14, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- I know that. I may do this tomorrow or in the next few days, but as long as the better image is on Commons, there’s no further need for screenshots. IvanScrooge98 (talk) 01:18, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- @IvanScrooge98 The image of the photo shoot is not convincing at all, especially for the license inserted, which as usually happens with badly inserted images, are deleted after a certain period. For this reason there are doubts, as the image was taken from social media and usually those taken from there are often deleted. One could insert the image of the interview video, as it is also supported by the source. 37.159.55.190 01:31, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- The image of the photo shoot was taken from here (https://www.instagram.com/share/p/BAbwgkoChc), then not even the license used is convincing. It is not suitable as a source, which is why a YouTube image is better than an interview. 37.159.55.190 01:45, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- @IvanScrooge98 Hello, in these days a user has raised a discussion about the images of the participants of the Sanremo Festival, regarding the logo on the microphones and defining it as a "promotion", which is not at all. In addition, such images were also used for the participants of previous editions and the meaning of the discussion is not understood. Logos or crests are also used by actors, footballers and singers and all this is not called a "promotion". This is just a user annoyance that some images bother you. If you'd like to participate to the discussion, you can do it whenever you want. 83.225.11.230 23:32, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

Source of derivative work is not properly indicated: File:Zohran for Mayor.jpg
[edit]| This file may be deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Zohran for Mayor.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

Counterfeit Purses (talk) 03:46, 2 January 2026 (UTC)
Let's discuss this before it leads to further arguments.
@Didym tagged the file as a derivative work. You removed the tag saying that the people who made the poster "...doesn't seem to claim any rights to them (see internet)". The poster itself is a derivative work of the photo used in the poster. The photo would have to have a free license for this to be allowed on Commons. It doesn't matter what the people who made the poster say if they aren't the ones who hold the copyright of the photo. So I tagged it again as a derivative work.
Now you've identified the source image and said " there, found it. I guess you'll be happy to delete it now". It's not freely licensed, so it can't stay on Commons. That doesn't make me happy, it's just following COM:SCOPE. If you upload images that aren't freely licensed, they are going to get deleted, whether it's me asking for the deletion or someone else. Don't make it personal. Counterfeit Purses (talk) 15:58, 2 January 2026 (UTC)
- You seem to be intent on pointlessly edit warring. The image isn't a poster of New York City, so the category doesn't apply. I removed the category in case the image doesn't get deleted. Since you've obviously seen my message here, I'm going to ask for the image to be deleted as a copyright violation. Counterfeit Purses (talk) 00:17, 3 January 2026 (UTC)
File:Zohran for Mayor.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

File tagging File:Mariam Battistelli.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Mariam Battistelli.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

A little help restoring deleted info
[edit]Hello, So I had added some thoroughly cited information to a few language pages while editing admittedly as a sock, and now I am currently blocked. And as a result a couple users had hounded my account and edits, and sadly removed all of the info that I added to the following pages. Could you possibly restore the info I added to the pages at least? I truly want to display this cited info for the public, at least. I am doing this for the viewers, and the readers, and especially indigenous peoples trying to learn their forgotten tongue. I also deeply care about the rights of indigenous peoples across the world, and this is why that info was added. The following pages and their revisions are listed here to undo.
Warrwa lanugage; Ngadjuri language; Arutani language; Gkuthaarn language; Mbara-Yanga language; Yanda language; Yalarnnga language
If you could undo all of these deletions, that would be incredibly helpful. Thanks Fdom5997 (talk) 03:18, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
- I’m pretty sure I can’t do it all as it would qualify as proxying, but I can review and restore the parts that are sourced. IvanScrooge98 (talk) 10:39, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
- All of them are sourced. And they were wrongfully deleted. If you could maybe have them reviewed before doing so, that would be great. I'll list them here ([1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]) Fdom5997 (talk) 21:40, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
- Since you seem in good faith and your contributions earnest, I restored them all. Please try to avoid trouble because it’s a pity that improvements go lost over account irregularities. IvanScrooge98 (talk) 00:10, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
- Will do! Thank you very much!! Fdom5997 (talk) 00:18, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
- @IvanScrooge98 Oh and one more thing, could you revert this Hindustani phonology revision? The chart was disrupted by some user who didn’t even use a source. Fdom5997 (talk) 07:37, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
- @IvanScrooge98 thanks for the Hindustani one! Although there’s just one more revision that should be rv’d (since the rv’d info was based on the main source used) from the Secoya language, here Fdom5997 (talk) 20:10, 1 February 2026 (UTC)

- Uhm. I read that page, too, before starting to upload pictures. It says that the content may be copyrighted, but this as well as other pictures appear on a parallel website of the National Assembly which says that the content is freely licensed. This is why I went on with the upload. IvanScrooge98 (talk) 15:35, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- Don't remove templates. You have an option to contest the speedy deletion.
